MICHELLE De HIGHDEN AND PAOLINA HUNT APPOINTED TO AFL COACHES ASSOCIATION BOARD

The AFL Coaches Association has appointed two highly-accomplished elite sports professionals to the Board.

Australian Institute of Sport high performance mentor, Michelle De Highden, and former chair of Netball Australia, Paolina Hunt, have joined the Board this month.

AFL Coaches Association Chairman, Greg Nichols, said the appointments would add a range of new skills to the Board.

“We are delighted Michelle and Paolina have agreed to join the AFL Coaches Association Board. They have a great depth of experience in elite coaching and sports management in high-pressure international sporting environments. They will bring valuable new insights to the AFLCA and help to continue to develop the Association on behalf of its members,” Mr Nichols said.

“Michelle’s background is in gymnastics, a sport of high discipline in an intensive global competition, so she brings a great depth of knowledge and experience that can be applied to AFL coaching. She is passionate about coaching and how we learn from best practice to make the profession and the people in it as successful as possible.

“Paolina has a deep understanding of female sport and experience in running a high-profile national sporting organisation. She has been involved in Netball World Cup bids, the introduction of the Super Netball competition, securing government investment, digital strategy, and extensive governance reform.”

Michelle De Highden said: "I am delighted to be appointed to the Board of the AFL Coaches Association. I am a strong believer in creating opportunities for coaches from diverse backgrounds and sports to connect and learn from each other in order to enhance themselves and those around them."

Paolina Hunt said: “I am excited about joining the Association’s Board and playing a role in continuing to develop the Association and coaching profession to ensure we continue to attract the best people to the AFL and AFLW.”

De Highden and Hunt join current AFL Coaches Association Board Members in Greg Nichols, Geoff Walsh, Graham Phillips and AFL Coaches Association CEO, Alistair Nicholson.
